In an unassuming little plaza lies some of the best dumplings I’ve had in a while. You could taste the fresh rolled dough and plump moist fillings. These are homemade from scratch and you will notice. The rest of the meal I had was also exceptional. I ordered a side of the chili oil with pork which went with almost everything I ordered. I definitely recommend a visit to Bao Dumplings & Bao Tea.

Pretty yummy dumplings! I like the pork soup dumplings, despite other reviews I think they had a great flavor. The wrapper is a little thick but it’s the normal thickness for US bao. The veggie pan fried dumplings were also delicious, didnt taste like I was eating veggies. Had a lot of flavor and I loved the ginger sauce it came with. The bao chicken is a huge plate of pan fried white chicken chunks that were huge and hot. Very fresh, had a goopy sweet and slightly spicy sauce on it. Came with 4 pieces of broccoli and white rice. I got an iced tea boba with strawberry popping boba. It was huge! And I loved the popping boba, and they were able to do no ice and no extra sugar. The only negative was they charged extra for the chili sauce, and we didn’t know that because we only looked at the white menu where you check off your items but it’s on the other menu, $2. There are a couple tables inside, it’s a cute place and I would come again!

We came here for lunch during Saturday noon. It was a gorgeous restaurant, looked so new with wonderful wooden interiors around the tables and booths. They had ordering menus in each table, so it was super easy to put numbers next to the items we wanted and hand it over. We ordered the crab & pork soup dumplings which had 6 pieces. Dumplings were good with soft chicken inside and good amount of soup. The beef noodle soup was also good, beef was tender. I loved the shrimp with lobster sauce wok fried dish. Shrimps were huge and lobster sauce was so delicious. The chicken dumplings had a dozen pieces and came with 2 sauces. They were soft and tasty too. But all dumplings had really thick outer layer. Wish it was not as dense. Thinner dough would have tasted much better. I also liked the fruit tea drink. The dishes came out quickly. Service was good overall. It was a really good lunch experience for us.

Dumplings seem homemade, and though some reviews say wrapper is thick, I think it's suitable. The other dumpling are bought. Bubble tea is on point. Other options including noodle and soup are available. I do recommend.

Newly open Bao Dumpling and Bao Tea at Fair lawn NJ. Nice and simple decor inside. Clean and spacious for the seating. The staff are friendly. Food came out pretty fast. We had chicken dumplings, crab/pork soup dumplings, beef noodle soup and shrimp with lobster sauce. The dough of dumplings are a little too thick. Beef has too much fat. But all are tasty and flavorful. We also got mango fruit tea(?) and milk tea with boba. I’m pretty sure they use brown sugar which is great!!! The boba needs some work. The texture is inconsistent. I got some good ones and hard ones in my drink. Overall some small things need to be work out food-wise. But a good spot for meals or small food and tea.

update: as expected, yes, the pickup experience here is much smoother! finally got my hands on some wok fried veggie rice with no soy sauce, and it's delicious! maybe I'll be able to enjoy this eating inside someday 2 months ago~: was pretty excited for this place but if I can't get correct orders, an interesting menu becomes a lot less appetizing. Asked maybe 3-4 times for just a fried rice with no soy sauce? Still got it with soy sauce... and I can see on my receipt, my waiter didn't even bother to mark it for no soy sauce anywhere. If I weren't starving, I would have sent it back. Took it to go home and hopefully wash off the sauce myself later. Might be best to only do pickup orders here if you want to customize anything, because all the options I'm looking for are definitely on their little digital kiosk in-person and online. But the front desk tells me those options are not in their system??? Whatever. If you don't have an item available, that's okay! Just inform the customer in advance, before giving them something they didn't ask for.

This was such a 10/10 from the second we walked in! We were given such kind treatment and immediate service, it was our first time in, so we had an amazing explanation of the menu and offerings. I’m not really a fruit tea person, but wow the pineapple tea was absolutely delicious! We also ordered the wok-fried noodles and hunan beef and a pork soup dumpling. I love love loved the soup dumplings, I will literally be back for those. So happy they opened a location up in Fair Lawn, or I don’t think I would have known about their other locations! We spoke with the owner and she was so kind, as well as the lovely staff that was there that day.

Nestled in the heart of Fair Lawn, NJ, Bao Dumplings & Bao Tea 寶餃寶茶 is a hidden gem for lovers of authentic Chinese comfort food. The restaurant’s standout feature is undoubtedly their homemade dumplings, crafted from fresh-rolled dough that wraps succulent, moist fillings. Each bite reveals the care taken in preparation, setting these dumplings apart from typical takeout fare. Whether you opt for the pork soup dumplings or the veggie pan-fried variety, the flavors are robust and balanced, often enhanced perfectly by their signature chili oil pork sauce.

Beyond the dumplings, the menu offers an array of satisfying dishes—including tender beef noodle soup and wok-fried shrimp in rich lobster sauce—that showcase a harmony of traditional ingredients and careful cooking techniques. The bao chicken, with its crispy pan-fried chicken chunks coated in a sweet and mildly spicy glaze, paired with fresh broccoli and steamed white rice, delivers a wholesome, hearty experience worthy of a return visit.

Complementing the food is their vibrant selection of teas. The bubble tea, featuring freshly brewed bases and creative toppings like strawberry popping boba, stands out for its refreshing quality and customizable sweetness. Their use of brown sugar in milk teas adds a nuanced depth, though minor inconsistencies in boba texture suggest room for refinement.

The restaurant’s atmosphere reflects a modern yet cozy aesthetic, with wooden interiors and an efficient ordering system at each table, making for a seamless dining experience. Service is friendly and attentive, and dishes arrive promptly—factors that bolster Bao Dumplings & Bao Tea’s welcoming vibe.

While some patrons note the dumpling wrappers lean toward a thicker texture than traditional Chinese styles, many find this heartier dough suitable for the U.S. palate and a complement to the flavorful fillings. Small tweaks in sauce charges and boba consistency aside, Bao Dumplings & Bao Tea strikes a fine balance between authenticity and approachability, making it a highly recommended spot for anyone craving savory dumplings and quality tea in a casual setting.
